One of the things that I like about doing design, is that you can draw inspiration from anywhere. This particular character design was inspired from a wrought iron garden decoration. From pictures of this garden-dwelling decoration, I set the images up using illustrator in a way that allowed me to bend her joints. Having done that, I then added her umbrella. I found a playful font and made a logotype using the letterforms and changing them to suit my purposes. Lastly, to tie it all together, I took the serifs from the font and used them as accents on Mary’s outift on her hat, sleeves, the bottom of her top, and the at bottom of her skirt.
