This shirt design was commissioned by the Amberley Village police department. They held a bicycle safety event, complete with an obstacle course for children in the neighborhood and the department wanted a way to promote and celebrate the event. The idea behind the road signs came from what one might encounter while riding their bike through town. I wanted to make the design come to life, so I illustrated a very excited boy on his bike and made the road signs look like he’s flying by them. I finished out the design with typographic elements that I scaled and moved around to keep the excitement going, and I repeated the type treatment on the back of the garment. This shirt sold out twice do to its popularity.
